Dr. Flora Sarmiento's formative years were spent in Texas, near the Mexican border. Following high school, she pursued her undergraduate education at St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas, earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. Driven by a passion for advancing her knowledge, she obtained a second Bachelor of Science in Dental Laboratory Materials from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. Relocating to Florida, Dr. Sarmiento furthered her education, achieving a Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences from Barry University in 2013. Dr. Sarmiento's journey in dentistry continued as she matriculated to dental school in Fort Lauderdale, culminating in her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree award from Nova Southeastern University in May 2018. Dr. Sarmiento's commitment to excellence is underscored by her extensive training in various dental disciplines, including dentoalveolar surgery, dental implant surgery, maxillofacial pathology, orthognathic surgery, and treating traumatic injuries to the face and jaws. She completed a comprehensive 4-year Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency at Howard University in Washington D.C., earning a certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Known for her compassion, empathy, and meticulous explanation of treatment options, Dr. Sarmiento prioritizes helping her patients feel at ease.
