Dr. John W. Harden, Jr. is a highly respected general dentist with over four decades of experience in private practice, most notably at Emory University Hospital Midtown, where he served patients with excellence for 42 years until his retirement in 2020. A proud Georgia Tech alumnus, Dr. Harden holds degrees in Industrial Management (B.S.I.M.) and Applied Biology (B.S. and M.S.). He earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) from the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry in 1978.
Furthering his expertise, Dr. Harden completed a medical anesthesiology residency at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. Since 1989, he has served as an anesthesia permit evaluator for the Georgia Board of Dentistry, reflecting his deep commitment to maintaining high standards of care and safety in dental anesthesia.
Dr. Harden’s service extends beyond the dental field into distinguished military service. He served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve in 1967 and 1968, and later as a dental officer in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1979 to 2003, retiring with the permanent rank of Colonel. Following the events of 9/11, he was appointed the U.S. Army Theater Dental Surgeon for Southwest Asia and subsequently commanded the 806th Medical Detachment upon returning stateside.
A longtime resident of Buckhead since 1985, Dr. Harden is deeply rooted in his community. He and his wife Carey are proud parents of five children. Dr. Harden’s legacy is marked by a lifetime of service, both in the dental chair and in uniform, embodying dedication, leadership, and care.
