Dr. Robert Friedman has been a resident of Nassau County since 1987, practicing dentistry on Amelia Island for an impressive 36 years. Although he initially sold his private dental practice with intentions of retiring, Dr. Friedman soon realized he wasn't quite ready to hang up his dental instruments. His dedication to dentistry has been unwavering throughout his professional life, allowing him to accumulate a wealth of knowledge in the field. Deciding to continue his passion for dentistry, Dr. Friedman joined Sage Dental of Callahan, where he continues to provide exceptional care to his patients. He attributes much of his success to his competent and personable staff, including Carrie, the dental hygienist; Jasmine, the office manager; and Sarah and Karla, experienced dental assistants, each with over ten years of dental assisting experience. Born and raised in Columbia, S.C., Dr. Friedman pursued his undergraduate studies at the University of Georgia before attending the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. There, he completed a 2-year General Practice Residency based in the hospital at the Medical University of South Carolina. This elective residency program, not attended by all dentists, provided Dr. Friedman with extensive training in various dental procedures, including endodontics, periodontal treatments, crown and bridge fabrication, removable partial dentures, pediatric dentistry, hospital-based dentistry, oral maxillofacial surgery, and treatment of medically compromised patients. Dr. Friedman has placed over 1500 implants throughout his career and extracted over 20,000 teeth over his 36 year career. He also offers oral sedation for patients with dental anxiety, showcasing his commitment to providing comprehensive and compassionate care to all his patients.

Dr. Danelys Leyva is an internationally trained dentist who graduated in 2001 from Havana, Cuba. With 13 years of experience in her home country, she performed a wide range of dental procedures, including simple and complex extractions, root canals, and restorative treatments. During this time, Dr. Leyva completed a 2-year post-graduate program in general dentistry and obtained a Master's Degree in Urgent Dental Care, expanding her knowledge in specialties such as oral surgery, periodontics, and orthodontics. In 2014, Dr. Leyva relocated to the United States and began working as a dental technician in a dental laboratory in Louisville, Kentucky, developing a strong passion for dental technology. She later transitioned to working as a dental assistant in a family health center to be more directly involved in patient care while pursuing her dream of becoming a dentist again. Dr. Leyva is expected to graduate from the dental program at Rutgers School of Dental Medicine in May 2024. Recently, Dr. Leyva became a student member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, aiming to enhance her skills and knowledge in dental aesthetics. She has been married for 20 years to a talented dental technician, and thus, oral rehabilitation has been their shared professional passion. Outside of work, Dr. Leyva enjoys dancing, traveling, and spending time with their son, who is preparing for college. She is fluent in Spanish.
